Metropolitan Arms Co., .36 caliber percussion revolver, 7-1/2” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, closely resembling Colt 1851 Navy, serial #4582. The revolver remains in good to very good condition with 10-20% original blue on barrel drifting to patina with some slight erosion and pinprick pitting, some slightly heavier pitting at breech and muzzle and some nicks around wedge port and edge of wedge. The cylinder shows 30-60% light rolled cylinder scene showing battle of New Orleans with US flag gunboats. The frame and hammer show strong traces of hardening within a silvery grey patina. The varnish wood grips are good to very good with 60-70% varnish, some minor marks, wear at the edges, normal aging. All matching visible serial numbers, tight action, good interior, generally good overall with some bright blue beneath loading lever. Refer Flayderman 7A-065. One of about 6,000 produced. Circa Civil War. Shows Orleans April 1862 marking at front edge of cylinder. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
