This is from the Mesquaki (or Mesquakie, Fox) Native American Indian people of Iowa and shows a wonderful beaded belt. The belt shows brass trade tacks and early 19th century glass trade seed beads (greasy yellow, Cheyenne pink, Hudson Bay red, chalk white, navy, and light green). Beadwork and artifacts from the Mesquaki people is rarely seen and highly collectible. The belt is from circa 1880 and shows excellent quality condition with little to no bead loss. Nickel Brass buckle. Belt is 35.5"l x 1 5/8"w with a 2.25"x2.25" buckle.
