August 21, 1777. in full "<I>State of New Hamp In Committee of safety August 21st 1777, To Nicholas Gilman Esqr. R.G. Sr. pay Jona Blanchard Esqr. Twenty Pounds to be accounted for by him.</B></I>" This item authorizes payment to Jonathan Blanchard who served with distinction as a member of the "old Congress" in 1783. While pay vouchers are not scarce in the marketplace, items dating 1776 and 1777 command significant premiums and New Hampshire remains among the scarcest of those available.
