Produced between 1876 and 1880, the Merwin & Hulbert Army Revolver combined conventional gated loading with a speed extractor system, which could clear the cylinder of empty casings with a simple twist and pull of the barrel group. Blade and notch sights, with "THE HOPKINS & ALLEN Manufacturing Co. Norwich, Conn. U.S.A." on the left side of the barrel, the Merwin & Hulbert address on top, and "CALIBRE 44 M.H.& Co." on the left side of the frame. Fitted with a casehardened hammer and scoop fluted cylinder, with matching assembly numbers "723" on the back of the cylinder, the rear of the barrel lug and left side of the frame under the grip. Smooth mother of pearl grips.
