Manufactured from 1876 to the 1880s, these Large Frame Single Action Revolvers were also known as the "Army Revolver". This is a late production revolver with scooped cylinder and skull crusher grip frame. The top of the barrel is marked "MERWIN HULBERT & Co. New York, U.S.A. Pat. Jan. 24. Apr. 21. Dec. 15.74. Aug. 3.75 July 11.76. Apr. 17. 77. Pat's Mar.6. 77." and the left barrel side is marked "THE HOPKINS & ALLEN Manufacturing Co. Norwich, Conn. U.S.A." The left side of the frame is marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER" followed by "1873", the designation for 44-40 caliber. The front sight is a blade integral to the barrel and the rear sight is a "V" notch just ahead of the hammer on the frame. The serial number is stamped on the butt and the assembly number "1532" is stamped on the rear of the barrel lug, rear face of the cylinder, cylinder pin, and left side of the frame under the grip. Fitted with pearl bird head grips.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 70% original nickel finish with the balance a smooth patina showing some very scattered mild pitting. The cylinder, side plate, and right side of barrel have gray patches of absent nickel. The grips are very fine with a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
