Antique Merwin & Hulbert 2nd Model Spurtrigger Single Action Pocket Revolver, by Hopkins & Allen, #3915, .38 S&W CF cal., 3.5'' barrel twists to right for loading/extraction, marked ''Hopkins & Allen Mfg. Co., Norwich, Conn. U.S.A.'' with 1874-77 patent dates on top rib, exposed cylinder pin; 5-shot cylinder with M&H ''scoop'' flutes; solid frame marked ''Merwin Hulbert & Co./New York U.S.A.'' on left side and ''38 Cal.'' on right, has right-side vertical-sliding loading gate and integral flat-butt gripstraps with two-piece finely-checkered hard rubber grips having fancy scalloped borders and dog's head in high relief at top. Mfg'd ca. late 1870s-80s, originally in full nickel plate with case hardened hammer and trigger. Condition is fine retaining approx. 95% original nickel, with minor losses at left recoil shield, rear of cylinder, left locking lug, and vise-type knackering to both barrel sides; hammer and trigger show 85% case colors. Grips are pristine with sharp checkering and designs. Action is excellent, bore is fine. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)*
