Merwin & Hulbert Frontier Army revolver, .44 M&H caliber. 7” round barrel, factory floral intaglio engraved with lacquer or painted accents. Nickel plated, pearl grips, serial #13415. Pistol shows a floral and punched out pattern engraving with portrait of dog’s head on left side of frame. Balance floral and dot engraved in classic Merwin style. Approx. 90-95% original nickel remains. Some areas of small losses just beginning agingand just beginning of nickel, with some darkening and beginning minimal erosion where finish has lifted. The engraving retains the majority of its painted green and red lacquer accents. The Merwin is fitted in itsoriginal to the period pearl grips which fit impeccably and are in very good condition with just some minor stress or age type cracks. The hammer and triggerguard show 70-80% toning case hardening. The trigger and small parts show bright original finish. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the action is tight. The interior is excellent. The bore is near mint. The barrel and cylinder show assembly numbers “3333”.
