Merwin Hulbert Fourth Model Pocket Army Single Action Revolver

Manufactured circa early 1880s. The top of the rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates and the left side of the frame is marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873", the designation for 44-40 caliber. The serial number is marked on the right side frame toe. The assembly number "1183" is stamped on the left side of the frame under the grip, and the rear cylinder face and barrel lug are numbered "9973". Blue finish with casehardened hammer, pinned blade front and frame notch rear sights, and fitted with smooth walnut grips.

Manufucture: Merwin Hulbert & Co
Model: Pocket Army
BBL: 3 1/4 inch solid rib
Stock:
Guage: 44-40
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 9973

Very good as assembled (see above) with a mix of thin original blue finish and smooth gray patina. The crude period replacement grips are fair with the escutcheon separating from the wood causing a large splinter on the inside right panel and showing minor handling marks. The grip remains solid. The barrel marking is partially visible. The action functions fine.
