Nine items: Impressive vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of LeRoy sitting pensively with his camera. Signed and inscribed in green ink, “For Ted, Thanks for all your help on ‘Toward The Unknown’ ‘Bad Seed’ and many others I hope, Mervyn”; and eight TLSs to Ted Ashton, dating from 1956 up to 1976, seven signed “Mervyn,” and one signed in full, on both his personal and business letterhead, sending thanks for well wishes. Some light contrast to signature and inscription on photo, and some light toning to letters, otherwise fine condition. Also included is a sympathy card sent to Ted and signed by LeRoy’s wife.
Ted Ashton, a Princeton graduate, began his motion picture career in 1947 in the publicity department at Warner Brothers. He soon became a unit publicist on many of the studios most successful films for the next 18 years. Among his many credits were Giant, Mister Roberts, Auntie Mame, East of Eden, Calamity Jane, The Green Berets, and Bound for Glory. RRAuction COA.
