Merle Oberon Handwritten & Signed Personal Letter
Merle Oberon Handwritten & Signed Personal Letter - A personal letter handwritten and signed by Merle Oberon, famous actress best known for her role as the ill-fated love interest Cathy opposite Laurence Olivier’s Heathcliff in the classic 1939 “Wuthering Heights”. The letter is written to actor Van Johnson on Oberon’s King’s Langley stationary, which is a historic village in Hertfordshire, England, where she was living at the time. Among many interesting stories, she writes about visiting the famous Lord Dudley Farm, and a call she received from Tyrone Power. The letter comes in the original Air Mail envelope, addressed by hand by Merle Oberon, and includes the original canceled “Queen Elizabeth” English Air Mail stamp, and a postmark from London dated April 10th, 1958. It comes from the personal collection of Van Johnson, and includes a Letter of Provenience from his daughter, Schuyler Johnson along with a copy of her famous controversial cover story article “My Life As A Hollywood Princess”, about her trials and tribulations growing up in Beverly Hills with a superstar father and extended “family” with some of the most famous celebrities in the world.
