Merkel .470 Nitro express safari grade double-rifle, 23-1/2” barrels, 41” overall. Blued barrels with two-leaf rear sight half raised rib, engraved action showing lion on left, elephant on right. Receiver is Frenchgrey or satin finished in traditional European style. The frame shows cocking indicators and top-mounted safety. The rifle is stocked in good quality figured walnut with pistol grip, cheek piece, and typicalEuropean styling. The gun measures 14-3/4” to the end of the wood, 15-1/2” to the end of the pad. The condition is fine to near excellent. 97-99% with English type sling swivels showing slight use and minor firing.97-99%. Many African hunters consider this the premium caliber and Merkel of Suhl is a top maker. Est: $3,000 - $6,000
