Three items: a business check, 8.5 x 3.25, filled out and signed by Schirra, “Walter M. Schirra,” payable to Hale Wale for $500, October 28, 1983; a TLS signed “D. K. Slayton,” one page, 8 x 10.5, NASA letterhead, September 15, 1975, in full: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest and concern during my recent hospitalization. I have now been released from the hospital, am feeling great, and the doctors indicate my recovery should be rapid and uneventful”; and a TLS signed “Leroy G. Cooper, Jr.,” one page, 8.5 x 11, June 20, 1964. Letter to fellow Mercury Seven astronaut Deke Slayton, in full: “This letter will evidence the fact that I have received from you the sum of $2,000 to invest on your behalf in one or more business ventures in my complete discretion. While any investment by me of these funds will be made in my name, it is understood between us that such investment will be made on your behalf and that you will be entitled to all benefits accruing from such investment.” Includes a carbon copy of the text, also signed at the conclusion by Cooper, who makes a single handwritten correction to the date. In overall fine condition, with an expected mailing fold passing through the signature and a rusty paperclip impression to upper left corner of the Cooper, slight scattered creasing and a pair of staple holes to the Slayton, and show-though from expected bank stamps to reverse and a tiny tear to right edge of the check. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the Cooper letter.
