Vintage “Olympic Super Delux” field hockey stick made by Hans Raj Mahajan & Sons, 36.25˝ in length, with label to shaft marked, “Hockey Sticks as used by the Indian Olympic Hockey Team at Melbourne Olympiad 1956,” with a list of facsimile signatures of the gold medal-winning team below. The No. 18 stick was made expressly for Alex Taylor & Co., and bears an EGO number of 182879. In very good to fine condition. The men's field hockey tournament at the 1956 Summer Olympics was the eighth edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympics. Contested from November 23 to December 6, India won the gold medal for the sixth successive Games, not allowing a single goal against in the entire tournament.
