Beautiful Meissen porcelain figurine of a young girl, carrying a basket of flowers, with a lamb / young sheep lying at her feet. Originally part of a group of figurines called "Gardener Children" created by Johann Joachim Kaendler in 1740. This figurine is marked on the underside with the Meissen crossed-swords mark and was manufactured in the 1915-1920 period. Additional marks on the underside include an impressed number 3, a hand painted number 25 in red and a hand-incised number 22 (see photo). This figurine is still being manufactured by Meissen today and a new one sells for more than USD$1,500. In very good used condition, as shown.
