<B>Medium Segment of Apollo 11 Flown "Kapton Foil" from Buzz Aldrin's Personal Collection.</B></I> Measures approximately 4" x 2.75". A medium-sized piece of delicate kapton foil from the Apollo 11 Command Module <I>Columbia.</B></I> This foil played the critical role of reflecting the sun's intense heat away from the space craft as it re-entered earth's atmosphere. Due to the delicate nature of the material, most of the foil burned off of <I>Columbia.</B></I> Small pieces survived and were salvaged. Space flown Kapton foil, especially from the Apollo 11 mission, is rare and desirable for framed displays.
