Santaras of Santalige, Anonymous, Gold Fanam (Hana), 0.38g, Obv: Lion facing right, Rev: Mace (Gada) accosted by Conches (Shankh). Extremely fine, rare.
The Santaras founded their dynasty during the 9th century C.E. with their capital at Pombuchchapura. They were the feudatories of Kadambas of Banavasi, Chalukyas and Hoysala. The dynastic rule ended when the Hoysalas took complete control of the Santalige around end of 12th century CE.
