Nolambas of Nolambavadi - gold punch-marked gadyana of Polalachola II 'Nanni Nolamba' (c.969-975 AD), 3.74g. Obv: nine punches - 5x Nandi seated couchant facing right, 2x Kannada letter 'Shri', 1x Kannada legend Nanni, 1x Kannada legend Nolamba inscribed retrograde.

Extremely fine, Rare.

The Nolambas emerged and flourished as feudatories to the Rashtrakutas in the 9th and 10th century CE. They ruled from Hemavati, now in modern Andhra Pradesh, for nearly 350 years. The area of their rule was called 'Nolambavadi'.
