Early Medieval Maharashtra, Khandesh region - 'bull' type alloyed copper coin of 'Vishnukundin' fabric, attributed to 'Boparaja', probably a local Rashtrakuta ruler (c.600-700 AD), 4.58g. Obv: bull standing facing right; Brahmi legend Boparaja above. Rev: Sankha shell between two lamp-posts within a rayed circle.

Extremely fine, Very rare.

This is the first example known of a coin issued by a ruler named 'Boparaja'. It is not certain to which dynasty he belonged but similar coins were issued by kings named Swamiraja and Nannaraja. The name 'Boparaja' appears to be another one in the same series.
