Early Medieval Maharashtra, Khandesh region - 'bull' type alloyed copper coin of 'Vishnukundin' fabric, attributed to 'Kubha', probably ruler of the Kumbhakarna dynasty (c.600-700 AD), 3.09g. Obv: bull seated couchant facing right; Brahmi legend Kubha below. Rev: Sankha shell between two lamp-posts within a rayed circle.

Extremely fine, Very rare.

The Kumbhakarna dynasty ruled from Thalner in Khandesh, as evidence from copperplate charters. At least five generations are known to have ruled, beginning with Jayaraja the first ruler and ending with Bhanushena, the last.
