Early Medieval Maharashtra, Khandesh region, 'bull' type alloyed copper coin of 'Vishnukundin' fabric, attributed to 'Guru Vigraha', probably a local Rashtrakuta ruler (600-700 AD), 3.51g. Obv: Bull standing facing right, Brahmi legend Shri Guru Vigraha above. Rev: Sankha with a Chhatra emanating out of it at the top end, a sword/standard to right.

Very fine+, Extremely rare.

Coins of some rulers whose names end in '- Vigraha' are known for the series of 'bull' type Vishnukundin fabric coins of early medieval Northern Maharashtra. Coins of Ranavigraha are known in good numbers but much rarer are coins of Jagavigraha, Pranavigraha etc. 'Guruvigraha' is evidently the name of a new king in this series.
