Pandyas of Madurai, Srimara Srivallabha (815-862 AD), Copper Kasu, 4.07g, Obv: Two vertical Fishes (Pandyan Royal insignia), Rev: “Avanibha Sekaran Kolakalan” in Grantha Tamil legend (Later Pandya Coins by A Sitharaman Coin No. 1). Very fine+, exceedingly rare.
King Srimara famously known as the “Parachakra Kolahala” ("the Confounder of the Circle of his Enemies"), also bears many other titles like “Ekveeran”, “Parasakra Kolakalan”, “Avanibhaskaran”. He was among the greatest King of early Pandyas who concord Shri Lanka, he also defeated Pallavas, Cholas, Gangas and many others. Sinnamanur Copper plates are the major source of activities of this grate Pandya King. The famous cave painting at Chittanvachal (Pudukkottai) believed to be King Srimara Srivallabha and his Queen.
