Nolambas of Nolambavadi, Anonymous, Gold 1/4 Fanam, 0.08g, Obv: Caparisoned Nandi seated couchant facing left, Sun and Crescent symbols above, Rev: Elephant goad and Kannada legend “Bhu”, a short form of Bhujabala. The title Bhujabala is adorned by the Nolambas, Telugu Chodas and many other kings of the South Indian dynasties. Extremely fine, extremely rare.
Nandi was the lanchhana (dynastic emblem) of the Nolambas. The Nolamba dynasty ruled from the 8th to 12th century CE.
