Feudatories of Yadavas of Devagiri, Mandalika Avichara, Punch Marked Gold Gadyana, 3.69g, Uniface, Nine punches - 5 x stylised lion facing right, 2 x Kannada letter Shri, 1 x Devanagari legend “Mandalika” below Sun, chhatra and Moon, 1 x highly ornate royal umbrella on obverse (Unlisted in major publications). Very fine, extremely rare.
‘Avichara’, the name of the feudatory (Mandalika) is usually placed below the royal umbrella but it is not visible on this coin. Who was Avichara and which dynasty he belonged to are questions that remain enigmatic.
