GROUP OF AWARDS AND DOCUMENTS BELONGING TO A ROMANIAN JEW AND MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY. DURING WORLD WAR II THE MAN WAS A POLITICAL PRISONER AND INTERNED IN A NUMBER OF CAMPS. FOLLOWING THE WAR BECAME A COLONEL IN THE M.A.I. (INTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTRY), THE INFAMOUS "SECURITATE", THE FORMER COMMUNIST POLITICAL POLICE. THIS LOT IS REMARKABLE THAT IT DOCUMENTS HIS ENTIRE LIFE AND ROLE IN THE COMMUNIST
ESTABLISHMENT THAT CAME TO POWER IN ROMANIA FOLLOWING THE ABDICATION OF THE KING.

Awards and Documents: As Lt.-Colonel : "The Medal for Military Merit", 1st class, RPR, bronze gilt, original suspension ring and ribbon, in original box of issue, with awarding document dated June 3rd, 1959. "Medal for the 20th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Fatherland", bronze, original suspension ring and ribbon, in original box of issue, with awarding document from 1964.
"The Veterans Badge of the Anti-Fascist War", bronze gilt and enameled, with awarding document dated May, 6th, 1965. "The Medal for the 50th Anniversary of Foundation of the Romanian Communist Party", bronze gilt and partially enamelled, original suspension ring and ribbon with bar, in envelope of issue, with
awarding document from 1971. "Medal of the 25th Anniversary of the Republic", bronze silvered and lacquered, original suspension ring and ribbon, in envelope of issue, with awarding document from 1972. "Order of the Star of the Socialist Republic of Romania", 5th class, breast star in silver centre enamelled, in original box of issue, with awarding document from 1974. "Medal for the 30th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Fascist Domination", metal silvered, original suspension ring and ribbon, in envelope of issue, with awarding document from 1974. "Medal for the 40th Anniversary of the Liberation from the Fascist Domination", bronze gilt and

silvered and partially enamelled, with original suspension ring and ribbon, in original box of issue. - "Medal of Labour", RPR, 2nd class, metal silvered, original suspension ring and ribbon, in original box of issue.
- "Medal for Military Merit", RPR, 2nd class, bronze silvered and partially enamelled, with original suspension ring and ribbon. Additional items included in this lot:
- A certificate attesting that this officer was Jewish and that he had been interned in the following camps: Targu Jiu (Romania), a camp for political prisoners where Nicolae Ceausescu and Ghiorghiu Dej had been interned, and from where he was liberated in August 1944; Wapniarka and Grossulovo
camps in Transnistria. - Military service book and an I.D. card containing a list of the received awards. - The complete uniform of a "Securitate" colonel worn by the man. This remarkable archive of awards contain in all 19 awards and medals, 16 of which have their original awarding documents, 3 additional documents and the man's communist period uniform.
