Purple Heart with crimp brooch unofficially named "Ernest A. Kruse / Sept. 14. 1944" with lapel pin and ribbon bar in original WWII period case, together with an unnamed Army Good Conduct medal, Army Infantryman's Badge, his dogs tags and a variety of other pins and ribbons and several Italian banknotes. Included as well is Kruse's hand written Service Record inserted in a leatherette wallet given upon discharge and a series of original mimeographed official papers which demonstrate that Kruse served with Company C 338th Infantry 85th Division and that he participated in the attack on Mount Altuzzo, Italy. In the fierce battle, described in detail in the included papers, his entire unit earned a Distinguished Unit Badge and Kruse his Purple Heart. Other mimeographed papers list the recipients of the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Combat Infantryman. Generally very fine or better, papers show some age.
