Medal USA NAMED WWII GOOD CONDUCT GROUP NAVY AVIATION ORDANCEMAN
Named slot brooch Navy Good Conduct medal officially engraved to "Thomas Anthony Dominitis 1944," together with his unnamed slot brooch Air Medal, a Navy Air Crew silver pin hallmarked "sterling", his dog tag, ribbon bar, several bw photos and extensive research and copies of his record. Dominitis had a life-long career in the Navy, beginning in WWII where he served in continuous active duty from 1941 to 1947. He served on USS Massachusetts including the shore bombardment of Casablanca in 1942; on board of the USS Alabama during the Gilbert Islands campaigns, and finally on USS Cowpens at Wake Island in 1945 and subsequent operations against the Japanese home islands. Immediately after the war he was part of Operation Crossroads, the atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll. During the Korean War he flew numerous missions from USS Midway CVA-41 and received several commendations. Through the 1960s he was on board USS Shangri-La. The documents that are associated with the group should readily allow a full reconstruction of his career. Good very fine condition overall.
