Instituted on May 5th, 1939, by Carol II, in connection with the celebration of 100th anniversary of the birth of King Carol I. The medal, in one class only, was awarded to the members of the Royal family, to the members of the Court, to the Knights of the Order "Michael the Brave", to the holders of Military Virtue Cross, to the members of Diplomatic Corps, to all serving officials and military personnel who had also served under King Carol I, to the veterans of the war of 1877-1878, to the holders of the medal "Country's upsurge". The award with the bar "Pro Patria" was issued for the financial contributions to the army equiping fund. Breast Badge, bronze, with original ribbon and bar "Pro Patria".
