Medal - ROMANIA - Order "For Merit", Knight's cross, for civil, miniature
Instituted on June 5th, 1931 by King Carol II on the first anniversary of his recall to the throne, as "Badge of Honor for Merit", was changed to Order "For Merit", in November 1937, and divided into two divisions, for military (with swords) and civil. The order, organized in five classes, Grand cross, Commander, Officer, Knight and Cross, had a special position in the Romanian Orders Hierarchy, it was awarded only by the king "proprio motu", for loyal services rendered to the king or in recognition for military and civic services. White averse enamelled Malta-cross with slightly oval-shaped limbs, curbed towards the inside, with a double wreath of thorns between the limbs. In the middle of the cross is placed the cipher of Carol II. Silver and silver gilt, with dark green ribbon and a dark blue stripe in the middle. Very rare miniature.
