Herring, Farrel, & Sherman, of New Orleans, La., were producers of fire-proof parlour safes. These medals were issued as "Recompenses" at the Paris Exposition of 1867. The obverse has the laureate bust left of Napoleon III, with pointy beard, signed H. PONSCARME F. below. The reverse has the company name at center, with EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE DE MDCCCLXVII A PARIS around, RECOMPENSES at bottom. 50 mm, 62.6 grams
