<B>McKinley & Roosevelt: Another Huge 36" x 48" Jugate Campaign Poster, this One the 1900 version Declaring "MCKINLEY WAS RIGHT".</B></I> Similar in format to the preceding lot, this one picks up where that poster left off. Now McKinley & Roosevelt stand on their accomplishments, having brought prosperity back to America. At the foot of the platform grateful workers tip their hat to the president while in the background factories are smoking and commerce is in full swing. In the left background, under a cloud, is a glimpse of the "desolation" of the previous administration. The Republican ticket has added another effective issue as well. Following the easy victory in the war with Spain, the country was in a patriotic and expansionist mood, hence the unfurled American flag bearing the slogan "ONE COUNTRY, ONE FLAG." In his hand McKinley holds a scroll addressing the second major issue of his two presidential campaigns, the question of whether the country would run on a gold or silver standard. In both the 1896 and 1900 campaigns, the Republicans had effectively interwoven this monetary issue with the question of prosperity or depression. The scroll McKinley holds is titled "THE REAL ISSUE" and shows both 1900 candidates. McKinley stands before the smoking factories of the United States addressing a cheering throng, while around the corner Bryan doles out silver from the United States Mint to immigrant workers. This same design was found on one of the full sized posters in this series.<BR><BR>The present poster also displays as near mint condition. It has been linen-backed, with dowels added identically as the previous example. Careful examination notes that there were some minor tears and wrinkles in this poster prior to its having been linen-backed.
