McCabe Parade Headstall and Visalia Bit. Brown stitched, one ear headstall with engraved sterling silver-mounts, marked MC/S cartouche on bottom of both bit clips. Seargent's Western Store (Visalia, CA, c. 1940s) marked on concho buckles (2 ½” deep). Pristine condition. Braided kangaroo reins and romal, with 17 engraved silver overlaid ferrules & balls (2"L x ¾" w). 101" overall; rein length 50" with 5/16" strands, 48" romal. Popper is hand-tooled. Curb strap is dark brown with sterling buckles and tips. Visalia sterling silver bit with large and small engraved conchos and stainless steel mouth: No. 415 (Visalia Humane Stock Bit (Patented) in Visalia catalog, #32). Circa 1940. Marks: V S CO/PAT (x2) & VISALIA SADDLE CO.
John McCabe founded McCabe Silversmith Co., in 1923 in Hollywood. In 1938 he sold to foreman Charlie Martinez who used this later mark, until circa 1950, when the company was purchased by Sunset Trails.
