Maynard Improved #16 Target Rifle with last patent date 1882 on right side of frame and interchangeable extra barrel and forend, serial # 10574. The first barrel measures 30” and apparently is 38/50 caliber (notverified). The barrel shows 95% plus original blue with just some slight losses at the edges and normal beginning age. The frame shows 50-70% case hardening that is dulling slightly but still colorful. The stocks show a select burl wood grain with sharp checkering, most original varnish and are at least very good plus to near fine. The Swiss butt plate shows most of its original nickel with just beginning erosion and spottingfrom age. The markings are sharp on the frame, the bore is bright and near excellent. The rifle is mounted with a venier tang sight and an adjustable front sight which are both original to the period of use. Theextra barrel measures 28” 22 caliber rim fire, with correct style fore end missing its front sight from front dove tail and shows a correct style iron sight in the rear dove tail. The barrel shows 80-90% original
