Maynard 2nd Model Saddle Ring Carbine. S/N 1705, mid-1860s, .50 caliber, Civlil War period, original wood with faint cartouches, clear patent and manufacturer’s marks, original sights. “E” stamps suggest motion picture usage by Ellis Movie Prop Co. CONDITION: metal smooth plum brown overall, bore is very good with strong rifling, butt stock has been shortened by about 3/4" , no butt plate, percussion nipple removed and replaced with stud of the same size, spring return firing pin, actuated by the neck of the hammer, inserted through hole neatly drilled through frame, probably used some sort of .50 caliber blank center fire round. Being sold to benefit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's Program and Acquisition Funds.
