The entire harness is in the Maximilian style and all appears to be the same age. The desirable triple comb fluted close helmet has a 1-piece forged skull, a 1-piece forged visor and a 1-piece forged bevor. The bevor and visor are each held in place by their own spring loaded hook with a button release. There are roped edges throughout the harness. There are rondels covering the armpit area that have a 3/4 inch spike in the center. The breastplate has a decorative pierced design where the 2 plates meet and there is a decorative floral brass rivet below the designs. The elbow and knee cops are winged and there are mitten style gauntlets. The cod piece has a small post at the top with a hole in it that corresponds with a hole in the suit and a cotter pin is inserted to keep it in place. The cod piece is composed of 2-pieces riveted together and has an embossed elliptical shape on the tip with a roped edge around the outside edge. The sabatons are the bear paw style. Underneath the harness is a woven fabric that simulates chain mail. With an 87 inch long 16th century halberd with replaced angular oak shaft and an unknown maker's stamp on left rear side. Stands 72 1/2 inches tall x 27 inches wide x 19 inches deep without the halberd and has a dark stained oak base that measures 12 inches tall x 17 1/2 inches wide x 17 1/2 inches deep. Condition:
Very good, there is some scattered minor pitting and discoloration overall. There are some scattered dings. The skull has 1 small pinhole and 1 small line where there is a breakthrough from the 1-piece forging. There is minor surface oxidation on the inside of the helmet with a few areas of heavier oxidation. The bevor and visor do not stay closed when put under pressure. An extremely well executed piece!
