German physicist (1879–1960) who won the 1914 Nobel Prize in Physics for his research related to the diffraction of X-rays by crystals. ALS in German, signed “M. Laue,” on the correspondence side of a 5.5 x 3.5 picture postcard of Spindlermuhle, March 4, 1932. Postcard to physics Rudolf Ladenburg, who was teaching at Princeton. In part (translated): “Weather is nice, a lot of snow. We were driving by car from Berlin on an afternoon and we shall be back the 6th of the month. …Planck is holding a speech on 4.3. at the Physikalischen Gesellschaft about the new lines of the H-spectrum waves of 2 and 27em.” A couple postmarks over text, creasing and surface impressions to image side, and some scattered light toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition.
