Mauser Persian Contract Artillery Rig with Shoulder Stock Assembly
This is an example of a scarce Persian contract Luger artillery rig. This specific pistol is a Mauser Artillery Luger that was produced under contract for the country of Iran. There were a total of 1000 Artillery lugers produced in the 1936-1937 timeframe by the Mauser factory. These are basically 1914 Artillery Lugers, similar to those produced during WWI for the German and Austrian army to include the 8 inch artillery barrel with 1000 meter adjustable rear sight, wooden board shoulder stock and long leather artillery holster with double magazine pouch. These models were all marked in Farsi except for the proof marks. The top of the chamber area is correctly marked with the "Persian/Iranian" crest that depicts a large crown over a Lion holding a scimitar surrounded by wreaths on each side. The right side of the barrel extension has a small Iranian Crown proof and the left side has another small crown over "U" proof from the Mauser factory. The lower front edge of the frame has a small British "BNP" proof over a circular "HB/2" proof. As noted all serial numbers are in Farsi and this pistol has matching numbers on all the parts except the magazine. This pistol is complete as an original rig that includes: an original Iranian shoulder stock with the correct unnumbered attaching iron with a Farsi serial number stamped on the side of the stock (non-matching), an original unmarked brown leather Iranian contract holster, unmarked take down tool and unmarked cleaning rod. The holster is complete with an original set of brown leather shoulder straps and contract double magazine pouch. This pistol has the rust blued finish with straw color on the small parts with checkered walnut grips.
BBL: 8 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw color
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 3902
Condition: Excellent overall with 90% plus of the original rust blued finish with the most wear on the grip straps, the edges and high spots and front sight base with some thinning around the center section of the barrel from being held there. The grips are in very good condition overall with some minor light wear across the checkering with some light pressure dents and dings in a few places from use. The attaching iron is refinished with a dull blue/black finish and looks like it has been on the stock for a long, long time. The shoulder stock/ leather holster and magazine pouch are all in fine condition with a nice even matching brown color on all three components, tight stitching with no tears or rips on the holster with just some minor surface scuffs, the stock has some minor handling marks and the straps and magazine pouch are also in excellent condition. An excellent example of a scarce Mauser Persian contract Artillery rig.
