Mauser 1934 K Date Luger
This is a nice representative example of a scarce Mauser S/42 "K" Luger pistol, first sub variation. There were the first actual new production Lugers that were produced after Hitler came to power in 1933 and they used letter codes during 1934 and 1935 to hide initial rearmament of the German military. There were four distinct sub-variations of "K" lugers with approximately only 1700 produced in this first block and they are distinguished by having the early script "S" markings on all the parts. The top of the chamber has the distinctive "K" markings indicating that it was produced in 1934 with the top of the toggle has the script "S/42" proofs indicating manufacture at the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the double "O/37" proofs next to the early drooped wing Mauser Eagle proof, with the same markings on the left side and underneath of the barrel. The majority of the small part such as the side plate, extractor, safety ejector, magazine release button and front of the trigger guard also has the correct small script "S" markings. It has walnut checkered grips and is complete with a late style all magazine that is marked on the side "fxo/37/PO8" with the aluminum base that is marked "2/8499".
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 1350
Condition: Very fine as professionally restored with clear sharp markings overall, with just a hint of wear on the front edges of the frame rails, edges and high spots. The various small parts have also been nicely restored and retain 98% of their current straw color. The grips are in very fine condition with a nice matching dark brown color on both sides with good checkering but showing numerous light pressure dents on both sides. The pistol has matching numbers except for the magazine and hold open latch spring, (which is correctly "s" marked). A very nice representative example of a desirable "K"-date luger.
