Signed book: In The Night Kitchen. Later printing. NY: Harper and Row, 1970. Hardcover with dustjacket, 9 x 11.5. Warmly signed and inscribed on the first free end page, “For Julie, Maurice Sendak, Jan ‘81,” adding a fantastic full-length sketch of the book’s main character, Mickey, in his cake costume, with a word balloon “Hello!” In fine condition, with owner’s name written at top of signed page, some mild toning to covers, and a price clip and light wear to dustjacket. Sendak is decidedly scarce in sketches, and this one is particularly charming.
