In the lithograph in colors ‘Folerie’ from the year 1975, the French artist Maurice Estève creates an energetic, playful impression through abstract shapes and colorfulness in green, orange and yellow. It is a characteristic work of the late years, when the artist had already reached complete abstraction. The lithograph in colors was published by Berggruen, Paris and printed at Mourlot, Paris.



The lithograph is signed in pencil lower right ‘Estève’ and inscribed in pencil lower left ‘E.A.’. It is one of 15 artist prints outside of the edition. The sheet is minimally toned and mat stained. On the right margin is a translucent mount stripe. The dimensions of the sheet are 67 x 50 cm and the framed dimensions are 85 x 65 cm.



Maurice Estève (1904-2001)

Maurice Esteve moved with his parents to Paris in 1913, where he became interested in art. He taught himself as a painter from 1923 and worked as a designer in a fabric factory. From 1928 his work evolving increasingly away from reality and towards a lyrical and poetic abstraction. Estèves first exhibition took place in 1930 in the gallery Yvangot in Paris, many more followed. Also in collections and museums his works are represented. (tm)
