Stage actress (1872-1953) who achieved her greatest success as Peter Pan. Signed book: Little Minister by J. M. Barrie. Later printing. NY: H. M. Caldwell Company, 1898. Hardcover, 5.25 x 7.75, 454 pages. Signed with a sentiment on the frontispiece beneath an image of Adams, “‘Just Babbie—I’m nae married yet.’—Faithfully yours, Maude Adams 1904.” Some light soiling and toning to the pages and scattered soiling to the boards and spine, otherwise fine condition. Adams had played Lady Babbie in more than 300 performances of the play. Later that year, Adams first appeared on stage in her most famous role as Peter Pan in the play adapted from another Barrie book.
