Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Hampshire (1714–1803). Manuscript DS, signed “Matthew Thornton,” one page, 7.5 x 5.75, September 6, 1765. Document issued to a New Hampshire sheriff, in part: "Greeting, complaint being made to me the Subscriber, one of his Majesty's Justices of the peace for said Province…These are in his Majesty's name to Require you forthwith to apprehend the said Arthur Archibald (if he may be found in your precinct) & bring him before me…to be Dealt with as the Law Directs." Mounted, double-matted, and framed with a portrait and plaque to an overall size of 18 x 12.5. In fine condition, with a small hole touching the paraph.
