Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Hampshire (1714–1803). Scarce partly-printed DS, signed “Mathew Thornton,” one page, 7.5 x 12.25, June 13, 1769. Receipt related to a sale of land in New Hampshire between Nathaniel Fiefield and Ebenezer Gile for a sum of five shillings. Signed at the conclusion by Thornton as justice of the peace. In very good condition, with toning and small areas of paper loss along intersecting folds (which show old reinforcements on the reverse).
