Matt Baker and Jack Kamen - Rangers Comics #39 "Glory Forbes" Page Original Art, Group of 5 (Fiction House, 1948). Two titans of "good girl" art teamed to showcase glamorous Glory Forbes' adventures in "Winter Wonderland." Glory breaks up a jewel smuggling ring, and along the way, the sensuous she-cat strikes many a provocative pose --- hey, now! Not to be missed are the large, pin-up quality panels on pages one, four, and six. Matt Baker was a supremely talented artist, and his previously under-documented life was recently detailed in the comics history magazine Alter Ego #47. In it, fellow Iger Studios artist and future EC Comics editor Al Feldstein recalled, "I was given the privilege to ink Matt's pencils on countless stories, which afforded me a priceless art education and further influenced my own style of drawing women, which I came to use successfully in my 'headlight' teenage comics for Fox publications." This Glory Forbes yarn features the only documented pairing of Baker with another Iger Studio and EC Comics mainstay, Jack Kamen, who inked Baker's pulchritudinous pencils. Jack Kamen is also celebrated as a master of the female form in his own right! This lot contains pages one, three, four, five and six of the story; only page two is missing. The image area of each page measures 12" x 18.5". The pages have blue pencil color notes (as was common with Iger Studio pages), and a pasted-on word balloon correction has slipped off of panel two of page one, leaving behind a glue stain; otherwise the art is in Excellent condition. Add a touch of spice to your collection with these pages drawn by two of the greatest "good girl" artists in comics history!
