Obv: A large punch in the centre, composed of a temple-like device, flanked by sun and moon with three-letter Kannada legend Shri Si / Ri Va / Da. Three punches at 9, 12 and 3 o'clock orientation; including a Kannada letter Shri (1 punch), a Swan-like bird in profile (1 punch), and a dynastic emblem consisting of a sword, sun and moon with two fishes flanking the sword (1 punch). 17 punches along the outer rim, consisting of a stylized lotus (8 punches), a floral design floral (4 punches) and a floral scroll (5 punches). Rev: Repousse impressions of some obverse punches. Extremely Fine, Unpublished and known for the first time, Extremely Rare.Coins of the Matsya kings of Chhatisgarg were never known earlier. It is for the first time that coins of this dynasty are reported here for the first time and that too in the punch-marked technique. This coin is so elaborate and its execution and detailing that one would wonder how such a thin piece of gold was minted with so many tiny punches and how they were used in circulation. Nevertheless this is a piece of unknown history on central India.
