A) Manufactured circa 1906. John Dickson & Son was established in 1820 and to this day are Scotlands leading maker and supplier of fine sporting guns. These shotguns feature fine English scroll and floral bouquet engraving on the frame, locks, break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware. The breech end of the ribs, the break levers and forend pieces have a gold "1" and "2" respectively. Each lock is marked "JOHN DICKSON & SON". Single brass bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which is marked "JOHN DICKSON & SON, 32 HANOVER STREET, EDINBURGH". The underside of each barrel is marked "VICKERS" and the flats are nitro proofed, marked with a "crown/V" and "crown/GP" proof, "2 1/2", "1 1/8", matching serial number and "J.D&S". The bore measures .736 on the right and .733 on the left. The wall thickness is .020 (right) and .022 (left). The bore constriction is .011 (right) (LM) and .020 (left) (Mod). The water table is marked with two "Crown/V" proofmarks, the matching serial number and "J.D&S". 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors and a 14 7/8 inch length of pull. The drop at the comb is 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel is 2 3/16 inches, 1/8 inch cast off and 1/2 inch toe out. Double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE", and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock with teardrop flats, checkered bare butt and gold initial oval inscribed "R.S.F". The shotguns come in a hard leather bound takedown case with "J.M. HANNAY" embossed on the lid, brass corner protectors, leather straps and handle, and hunter green velvet lining with a John Dickson & Son makers label affixed to the inside of the lid. In the case are four nickel snap caps, a nickel plated oiler an unused pull through bore brush in a leather pouch, two piece wooden cleaning rod, a shell extractor, a walnut handled screwdriver, three bore brushes, a bore mop and a jag.

Period refurbished with 98% blue finish remaining on the barrels, trigger guard and break lever, showing a couple of very small areas of finish loss on the barrels and a few minor handling marks. The locks show 50% faded case colors with the balance and the frame having a smooth silver gray patina. There are a couple of small chips on the upper left edge of the forearm and a couple of very small dents on the stock. The checkering is crisp. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically fine. The case is good with some scratches and wear, and dark stains on the exterior. The lining shows some contact impressions and wear.The accessories are all very good or better.

B) Described in "A" with 2 3/4 inch chamber, bores measure .733 (right) and .731 (left), the wall thickness is .025 (right) and .035 (left), the bore constriction is .008 (right) (IC) and .020 (left) (Mod). Length of pull is 14 7/8 inches. Drop at the comb is 1 3/8 inches, drop at the heel is 1 15/16 inches, cast off is 5/16 inch.

Period refurbished with 95% blue finish remaining on the barrels, showing some wear on the muzzle end, on top of the barrels on the breech end and a few minor handling marks. The break lever and trigger guard retain 99% blue finish. The locks and frame have a smooth silver gray patina with traces of faded case colors. The wood shows only a few very minor/light handling/storage marks and crisp checkering. The engraving and markings are clear. Mechanically fine, but a little stiff.
