Mata Ortiz Ant Jar - Irving Camacho. The ants are marching in lines on this charming jar by artist Irving Camacho. They seem to be headed to the asymetrical opening on the side of the jar's neck. It gives the illusion of the jar being an ant hill. The ants are incised designs on a nicely burnished black background. The jar measures 7''H x 6''W. Signed on the bottom. Mata Ortiz is a small village in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. The potters of Mata Ortiz create contemporary works of art, often incorporating Mimbres designs shared by the Southwest, Native American cultures.
