This Smith & Wesson revolver model was also known as the "D.A. Frontier". It is a top-break revolver which automatically ejects spent cartridges when opened. This revolver features floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background on the barrel sides and lug, rear sides of the top strap, cylinder flats, frame and back strap, with silver inlaid accents and bordering. There are two silver inlaid concentric bands around the muzzle. The front portion of the top strap and top of the frame flanking the hammer, and bottom of the frame have a feather design, and the top of the top strap has a simple line design with silver inlaid line bordering. In addition the left side of the frame has a wooded river scene with a silver relief man in a canoe and the right side has a mountain scene with a silver relief big horn ram. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates and the matching serial number is marked on the butt, with silver inlaid and scallop bordering, the rear face of the cylinder, barrel latch and top strap. The S&W trade mark logo is marked on the right side of the frame. Pinned blade front and notch rear sights, all blue finish with casehardened trigger and hammer and is fitted with two-piece smooth pearl grips with S&W medallions.

Condition: Mater embellished with 99% blue finish remaining, showing some normal usage wear on the barrel latch and upper front strap. All of the silver inlay remains. The grips are excellent with a few light scuffs on the bottoms. Mechanically fine. The engraving and markings are sharp. Truly a spectacular engraved and silver inlaid 44 D.A. revolver.
