Master Comics #1 (Fawcett, 1940) Condition: Apparent VF. Our cover scan can't do it justice -- this thing is huge! This Golden Age book is the size of the treasury editions of later decades. It also happens to be a key Fawcett issue that's difficult to find in any grade (Gerber gives it a "scarce" rating). And as for finding it in a decent grade... the oversize format made these things a pain to store, and you'll really have to look hard to find one better than VG or even GD. But look no further than this copy. We're giving it an "apparent" grade because of some color touches, but it's a very attractive overall package. The title was named after the character Master Man (or perhaps vice versa), but the hero didn't last long -- DC's lawyers saw to that once they saw how similar to Superman the character was. Other stars like Shipwreck Roberts and Mr. Clue rounded out the ensemble. The notable artists include Martin Nodell and Sven Elven. Overstreet 2004 GD 2.0 value = $759; VG 4.0 value = $1,518; FN 6.0 value = $2,277; VF 8.0 value = $5,313.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
