Massive percussion Market gun by Simmons with particularly long barrel, 10 gauge, 64” barrel, brown patina, double keyed checkered half stock, wood ramrod, engraved lockplate and hammer in overall good un-cleaned “out-of-the-attic”condition; no British proofs visible and engraving near the breech is similar to American makers from the Baltimore area of the early to mid-1800’s indicating this Simmons gun may be of American manufacture. The metal surfaces show a darkpatina with some spots of surface rust from long storage; the action is crisp, the markings and engraving are good; the front ramrod ferrule is missing, the wood ramrod is present; the wood half stock is overall good with scattered old mars and scratches, an old repair to the right side above the lockplate; a careful cleaning and oiling of this very interesting piece would greatly enhance its appearance. (Antique). Est.: $500-$1,000.
