Massive Westley-Richards SxS shotgun, 8 bore, blue special steel barrels, engraved frame, deluxe checkered wood stocks, #16072. This gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 98% blue on the barrels, four panel scene engravings of game animals on the frame along with tight classic English scrolls; a very good bore with just a couple of dark spots, good action, some spots of erosion on the right side of the frame, checkered wood fore end with horn cap and finely grained butt stock with checkered pistol grip and side panels; distance from the front trigger to the end of the butt stock is 13-1/8” and 14-1/8” to the end of the hard rubber butt pad; engraved three leaf rear sights; silver inlaid plaque in bottom of butt stock reads “Sampairau Ciakwad Baroda”. Copy of a letter from Westley Richards dated January 9, 2001, stating Gun serial number 16072 was manufactured in 1900 and sold to an individual named S. Jackwad. Accompanied by several cartridges for this gun. Est.: $3,000-$6,000.
